How much can you earn with Tidal?

Perhaps not as big as Spotify or SoundCloud, or as popular as Youtube Music, but Tidal is a noteworthy streaming platform that really stands out! Why? Because it pays artists more money than most other streaming platforms in the world.

Let’s see the numbers.

What is Tidal?

Tidal

Just like other streaming services, Tidal offers subscription-based music, podcasting, and even video streaming services. Launched in 2014 by Norwegian Aspiro, Tidal now offers 70 million songs and 25,000 videos to listeners according to Hollywoodreporter.
It is unknown at the moment how many paid subscribers Tidal has. But the most recent number in 2016 said that the streaming platform has around 3 million paid users. However there has been a lot of controversy around this number and some estimates place it even lower, around 850,000.

How much does tidal pay per stream?

Since Tidal is competing with the industry giants like Spotify, Apple, and Soundcloud, it is quite generous to artists when it comes to pay per stream. Meanwhile the most commonly used streaming platform, Spotify, between $0.006 to $0.0084 per stream to the holder of music rights, Tidal gives around $0.011 dollars per stream.
This is nearly double what other music platforms give. However, Tidal is yet to make its breakthrough since it is having a hard time competing.

How to get music on Tidal?

What’s really great about Tidal is that you can publish your work without a record label. There are several platforms to choose from like Indigoboom, Record Union, DistroKid, or Tunecore. In many cases, Tunecore is the most popular and easy-to-use option.

The first step you need to take is to go on Tunecore where you can upload your music and receive your royalties. You can upload singles or albums in a bulk and start making money.

Once you have an account, go to your dashboard where you have three options to upload, a ringtone, single, or album. Fill out the required information for your audience and click create at the bottom. For additional songs, click on the upload button. It’s as simple as that.

How start making money with Tidal?

Similar to other streaming services, Tidal pays its artists or podcasters whenever a consumer streams their content. Through Tunecore, once you’ve uploaded your work, Tidal will pay you the final percentage of the monthly subscription or advertising revenue they receive from the advertiser or consumer.

Assuming you get 1000 streamers at the end of the month, you should expect to receive around $11. If you compare that with Youtube Music’s $0.00069 per view, you’ll see that Tidal is an amazing choice for podcast and music creators.

Just be aware that uploading music on Tidal will probably be insufficient to make a lot of money or a decent living. Their pay per stream is very good, but the number of users is quite low. If you love to talk about your music, discuss topics, or Podcast about specific ideas, Buzzsprout is a great podcasting platform to let your voice and music heard.
