If you are wanting a career change then it is never too late to find your calling in life. You might think that you have been in your current position for too long to leave, but this isn’t the case. If you feel you are stuck in a dead end job or you have climbed that ladder as far as you can then it is time for a change. Doctor

If you have already been to medical school then you could go on to become a doctor. It all depends where your interests lie and in what field you want to work. This could be in a hospital or even a local doctor’s surgery. You will need to study hard to become a doctor, for many years. You might think you are too old to do this now, but you can guarantee you won’t be the oldest one there. Check out local universities to see which one has space and is convenient for you to get to. Once you are a qualified doctor, the world is your oyster and you could work just about anywhere.

Nurse

You might not want to go all the way to becoming a doctor and instead be a nurse. They help doctors and take a huge chunk of their workload. Nurses are amazing people and there are never enough. Studying to become a nurse isn’t as taxing as becoming a doctor but you still need to work hard and pass all your tests. Nurses can again choose what field they work in, it might be that you prefer working with children or elderly people. If you are an all rounder then you could also work in the emergency room where you will come across people from all walks of life.

Translator

Another great profession that could take you anywhere in the world is a translator. There are plenty of big companies that need interpreters and translators, the police or immigration for instance. Not speaking the native language can be a daunting and scary time for people who might be in trouble with the law. You could get your immigration interpreter certificate and be able to help them understand what is going on.

Freelancer

Lastly, how about working from home and choosing your own hours? If this sounds like something you would enjoy then you could become a freelancer. Freelancers not only set their own hours but choose their own fees as well. So if you want to make more money and you think your service deserves it then charge what you want. Be aware when setting fees you don’t want to be too cheap as people will be wary, but at the same time you don’t want to charge more than anyone else offering your services. Do your research and see if there is a need for your products or services in the freelancing world.
