Apps every college student needs in 2023

Most of us are all familiar with simple tools and apps like Google Drive, Facetime, or a digital Oxford Dictionary. But what about apps that can actually help improve our daily lives this year?

The Best Apps for College Students

Let’s delve deeper into some less common, yet necessary gadgets. Here we have tested and listed seven applications and their attributes that are fun and easy to use. Let’s take a look.

MyScript Calculator

This one is a particular favorite for those who need to crunch through the numbers in the digital age. Myscript calculator is a handwriting calculator turning your screen into an interactive piece of paper available on App Stores for iOS devices and Android.

Simply scribbling numbers on your screen would not only make simple equations possible like equation and subtraction possible but everything is merged into a single equation.

We tested it and were happy to formulate more complex operations with square roots, powers, sine, cosine fractions, decimals, and variables. However, not many good apps come free and the price for downloading this app costs approximately $3.

Dragon anywhere

Dragon Anywhere is a mobile dictation app suitable for dictating and editing documents by voice on your iOS or Android mobile devices quickly and accurately. You can stay productive anywhere you go. By using your own voice as a keyboard, the recorded sound is accurately listed on your screen.

This app is particularly good for journalists or anyone who wishes to voice record without going through the difficulty of trying to listen and write at the same time. We enjoyed adding custom words for industry-specific terminologies for better dictation accuracy as well as importing our recorded text to sharing tools like Dropbox to save space on our phones.

They provide a one-week free trial, however, their full services do not come cheap. A one-month subscription costs $14.99 therefore it is only useful if you do need to record long passages into writing. There is a cheaper solution called SoundNote costing you $5, but it’s only available for Apple users. It acts as a notepad and audio recorder, so you can store an entire lecture in both visual and audio form.

yED Graph editor

If your studies get complex or your ideas wear you down and get entangled, yED can be a great application. It is useful as a mind-mapping tool for quickly and effectively generating high-quality diagrams.

Visually captivating with multiple shapes and easy to use, we thought it would be a suitable collection for this list. It’s available on both Windows and Mac with many key features. But most importantly, this one is completely free to download and use. So give it a shot.

Microsoft Office Lens

This app is quite cool when you want to take clear pictures of documents or whiteboards after a lecture and converts them into editable, shareable text. By taking a screenshot from a certain angle, your device can read images and make them easily readable by clearing up the shadows, adjusting the shape, and sharpening the image. ?

The layout is preserved and the text is automatically coordinated for editing. It is available on Itunes and Android so give it a go.

Skout

apps

Meeting new people can be tough. We know that, especially when searching for new acquaintances and friends in a brand new community or country. Use your mobile device as your guide to meet new friends wherever you go.

So we thought this would be a worthy app for newcomers. Skout is the developer of a location-based social networking and dating application and website available on both iOS and Android operating systems. According to some statistics, Skout helped make 680 million connections in 2015, which is why it’s worthy of this list.

Blinklist

This app summarizes non-fiction books on various topics useful for academia, research, or writing. This can help you save time when writing a thesis, essay, or summary. The main topics are business, self-improvement, technology, biographies, etc. Gone are the days, when you have to skim through an entire book or read endless pages to get to the point.

With this app, you can read or listen to the main theme in under minutes to find out whether specific content is what you’ve been looking for. Registering can get you a free seven-day trial period, and an unlimited subscription costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 yearly.

WiseDrinking

A bottle or two couldn’t hurt, it is what most of them used to say before getting plastered.

Ok, that’s rarely the case. But it’s advisable to keep an eye out for the content of alcohol that would eventually run through our brains, squandering all that precious knowledge one has gathered before or after the exam periods. It could be a bit of motivation for young students.

We thought this would be important since alcohol and binge drinking is a big part of many student lives. WiseDrinking helps you track your alcohol consumption. Enter any intake of drinks to track your level of alcohol consumption. The application takes into account the type of drinks consumed and their volume.

There are many fantastic apps out there such as Studyblue, Evernote, and Simplemind. But based on our experiences, we thought these would be some of the most suitable and worthy gadgets.

Final Remarks

If apps are not enough to help out in your college life, there are other tips to help you out. But by using these apps and make your everyday life easier when starting out a new year. Make the most of your time with the tools available to you.
